Verry Interresting
Speaker Pelosi indicates that she requires President Bush to “deliver” 70 GOP votes before she’ll bring any Immigration Reform to the floor of the house. This is interesting in that all she really wants for passing Troop Support legislation that the President indicates that he’ll veto is a simple Dem “majority”, less Majority Leader Hoyer.
I know the Speaker is new to the job, but maybe she needs to brush up on her civics. It is the responsibility of the House leadership to deliver legislation to the Executive Branch. At least this is what the Speaker’s party was saying about the GOP leadership in the 108th and 109th Congresses.
Even Sen. Reid, the majority leader in the Senate seems to not lead the Senate to Immigration Reform.
Certainly, those wondering about the motives of the leadership of this 110th Congress, can now see clearly that it is purely political gamespersonship. There is no interest in dealing with the issues.
